10 Nov 2011 Meeting CANCELLED :(

To all LLLRC Moms:

I'm sorry to announce tomorrow's meeting is CANCELLED!

I'm very sorry for the last minute notice. Jeanie's Loma Linda surgeon's office called at 7:40 pm to move her post-op re-check appointment tomorrow from 3:15 pm to 11:30 am. Unfortunately neither Suchada or Margo are available to lead this month's meeting either.

Please help us spread the word, and see you in December!

Series Meeting::Thursday, November 10th at 9:30 a.m.

La Leche League of Ridgecrest will hold its regular series meeting on Thursday, November 10th, at 9:30 a.m.

This month's meeting is the third in our ongoing four-topic series. November's subject is The Art of Breastfeeding and Overcoming Obstacles. I love this title because it tells me that not only is breastfeeding learned and obstacles to breastfeeding may happen, but difficulties can be overcome! It just requires some networking with moms who have been there, sharing ideas of things that may fix the difficulty, and accepting the support of other breastfeeding moms. Hey! Sounds like a LLL Meeting!

This month, we'll be brainstorming about ways moms can overcome both common and unusual breastfeeding obstacles. Research shows that moms who have good breastfeeding information AND the support from other breastfeeding woman will breastfeed longer. This means their babies will receive all the wonderful benefits of breastfeeding for all that much longer!

If you have breastfeeding questions or tips to share, we look forward to seeing you at the meeting and hearing your thoughts. You're also more than welcome to comment here.

We welcome all interested women, as well as their babies and toddlers to our meetings. We strongly encourage women to begin coming to meetings while pregnant so they can begin learning the ins and outs of how breastfeeding works before the baby arrives.

Our meetings are held the second Thursday of every month in Ridgecrest at Immanuel Ministry Center, 1201 N. China Lake Blvd., located between Urgent Care and Pizza Hut.

{To find our meeting room, go in the Ministry Center's main entrance on the east side of the building off China Lake Blvd. Veer left across the lobby and go through the double doors. Our meeting room is the second door on the left. Look for the "La Leche League of Ridgecrest" sign at the door.}

A healthy snack will be available at the meeting as is our lending library. So, come, share your stories, meet other moms, browse the library, and have a good time out with your baby!

La Leche League of Ridgecrest will hold its regular series meeting on Thursday, October 13th, at 9:30 a.m.

This month's meeting is the second in our ongoing four-topic series. October's subject is Baby Arrives: The Family & the Breastfed Baby. We'll discuss the early weeks with your new baby including strategies for making the transition go as smoothly as possible for your family. Even though breastfeeding is the natural and the biologically sound way to feed an infant, there can be a learning curve for both mom and babe. Come share your tips and lessons learned about the early weeks of breastfeeding or bring your questions and concerns about adjusting to life with a newborn.

This month's meeting is the first in our ongoing four-topic series. September's subject is The Advantages of Breastfeeding. We'll discuss the many ways babies, mothers, fathers, families, communities, and the world benefit when mothers choose the natural, biological conclusion to pregnancy and birth: Breastfeeding! One of the main advantages of breastfeeding is how it can make mothering easier for the new mom!

If you have breastfeeding questions or tips to share, we look forward to seeing you at the meeting and hearing your thoughts. You're also more than welcome to comment here.

La Leche League of Ridgecrest will hold its regular series meeting on Thursday, August 11th, at 9:30 a.m.

This month's meeting is the fourth in our ongoing four-topic series. August's subject is Nutrition and Weaning. We'll discuss how we can continue healthy eating habits in our babies, now that we've given them the very best start; how to incorporate good nutrition into the whole family's diet; what is weaning, and steps for a smooth weaning.

SUCCESS!! LLLRC's Big Latch On Rocked!

Hi, Everyone~

This morning's Big Latch On was a fun time for all! There were 11 mothers in attendance. Seven were counted during the Latch On. Those numbers were e-mailed to biglatchon.org. The next step is to mail the evaluation form, signed Counters' sheets, signed participants' sheet, photos, and the press release in The News Review to the appropriate persons by the 13 Aug 2011.

I believe a preliminary count will come out this evening with the final count coming out after the 13 Aug reporting date. I'll keep you posted. The number we were trying to surpass is from 2010 and is just over 9,800 mothers breastfeeding simultaneously.

Thanks to each of the seven mothers who took time out of their busy mothering schedules to come and support LLLRC's celebration for World Breastfeeding Week. A special thanks to Maria, Charissa, and Andrea for being our "official counters" as well as Regan for taking photos of the event!!

Several of you have asked for a reminder for tomorrow's event, and it's just easier to send it to my whole list! If you're considered joining us, please do! No pre-registration is needed. Just show up no later than 10:00.

REMINDER!! Tomorrow morning (Saturday, 6 Aug) at 10:00 a.m. is the BIG LATCH ON at Pizza Factory. The door to Pizza Factory is supposed to be open, but if it is not, go through Beanster's! See you at 10:00 or before!!
