Series Meeting::Thursday, June 9th at 9:30 a.m.

La Leche League of Ridgecrest will hold its regular series meeting on Thursday, June 9th, at 9:30 a.m.

June's meeting is the second in our ongoing four-topic series and the subject is "Baby Arrives: The Family and the Breastfed Baby." We'll discuss adjustments that families make when they add a new family member.

All information discussed at La Leche League meetings and more is included in The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding now available at our meetings.

If you have breastfeeding questions or tips to share, we look forward to seeing you at the meeting and hearing your thoughts. You're also welcome to comment here at the blog, if you'd like.

We Have a New Leader at LLL of Ridgecrest!!

I am so excited and happy to announce a new Leader now working with La Leche League of Ridgecrest!

Suchada Eickemeyer has just been accredited as a Leader for all of LLL, but her early efforts as a Leader will be with our Ridgecrest Group!

As with all LLL Leaders, in addition to her personal breastfeeding experience and wisdom, Suchada was required to complete a wide variety of reading and dialog with the a local Leader and the LLL Leader Accreditation Department. Through one-to-one meetings and correspondence it was determined that her personal experience aligned with La Leche League's philosophy and Ten Concepts. When Suchada had completed all requirements for Leadership, she was accredited at the end of May 2011.

Many of you know Suchada through the mothers' series meetings held monthly in the area. She will join me in helping mothers throughout Ridgecrest, China Lake, Inyokern, and Trona by leading monthly meetings, taking phone-help calls, and a variety of behind-the-scenes tasks.

Please join me in a very warm welcome to Suchada!

May's meeting is the first in our ongoing four-topic series. This month's subject is The Advantages of Breastfeeding. We'll discuss the benefits of breastfeeding for the baby, for mom, for dad, and for the planet (because breastfeeding is GREEN).

La Leche League of Ridgecrest will hold its regular series meeting on Thursday, April 14th, at 9:30 a.m.

This month's meeting is the fourth in our ongoing four-topic series. April's subject is Nutrition and Weaning. We'll discuss how we can continue healthy eating habits in our babies, now that we've given them the best start; how to incorporate good nutrition into the whole family's diet; and what is weaning plus steps for a smooth weaning.

Annual Community Health Fair:: Saturday, 26 March 2011, 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

On Saturday, 26 March 2011, La Leche League of Ridgecrest (LLLRC) will have a table at the Annual Community Health Fair at the Cerro Coso College Gym. Our table with at least one accredited LLL Leader will be at the Health Fair the entire day, from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. (Right: Jeanie Salyer, Leader)

We'll have a limited number of La Leche League's own book The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding, 8th edition, available for purchase at the special Health Fair price of $17.00. That's 15% off the retail price of $20.00. {Tax is included in the $17 price.}
